theme(s): errors, mistakes (mine), 'a sad attempt to fuck up with sounds', my sexlife soundtrack (??), obsession with blips & bits
an "electronica" (hum hum) album without any laptop or max/msp. sounds like avant(post)-avant garde these days no ?
(I am jealous of people with laptop because I love (some of) the sounds you can generate. but the funny thing is, I will buy a laptop soon to *finish* (en francais: achever !) the soundwork for the album, and I am sure that my material is not going to sound like glitchism. so I am not THAT jealous, maybe I will be clever (well, pretending to be!).)
I want to concentrate on the *live* aspect of the music because I am supposed to play LIVE with Momus and others in Japan in July, and I want to show that I don't have the same definition of live music as the whole 'respectful audience/spiritual fascination for the glitch' one that (some) laptopists have.
you said live music ? I am thinking of Boredoms, Cornelius, interaction, noise, errors (of course!!) and screams !! well, we'll see :))))

last news:

- the show at Le Nouveau Casino was cool. Momus "played" his songs with his i-book, Montag performed his usual Stereolab-esque sounds (very nice) and Toog was playing with a drummer this time ! very impressive. And the Romanesques crew was SOO funny !!

- back at work I am remixing EeL song now. once again it's a new Digiki style ! I'm happy with the result. I will finish that before the end of the month.

- I spent some time with Darsh this week talking about the follow-up to his 2000 debut mini-album 'Poochie Allstars'. We are seriouly thinking about doing another album together (in fact we started working on new material in January 2002), but it will take time...maybe end of the year. Romain has very interesting (and funny) ideas for his album :))) You can check the Poochie remix EP on the Castellane website (in the news section).

two things.
1. I have almost finished my selection for Tuesday night at Le Nouveau Casino. It is good I think, as usual (I like this part of the work).
it's the third mix/selection in a row I think, in less than one month. I hope one day someone (pleeease!) will recognize how much work that represents (honest ! I mean, you have the right to dislike or hate my selections but for me it is a lot of work to put things together. OK, maybe i am lazy ! :)

2. I can't compose music, not even remix things, or reworks sounds. I think I will give it all up this year, it's pointless maybe. I can't do anything good !! really :)
I will buy a super laptop from Apple just to destroy it live when I am performing in Japan in july (hey, that's an idea !)

I know I wasn't very positive in the last posts

- too much work to do, not enough fun and relaxin' moments blah blah blah.

now I feel *good* not *great* but good, c'est deja pas mal :)

I don't have much to say about my last week

except that I am planning to REST after next week !

I need to sleep more, it's a matter of health now !

oh, and I don't have a mobile phone anymore (and no time to buy another one).

About the next week, Tuesday is a CRAZY day with work,

then my BIG mid year exam in japanese

(it's going to be BAD !) and after that...

the show at Le Nouveau Casino with Toog Momus

and Montag (I am supposed to DJ sometime during the night).

I am finishing now a mix cd called 'Eye sea symbols' to be sold at the event,

I was asked to do something around the theme of symbolism, so I took Wagner as an inspiration
(well, not THAT much, but anyway...). I started working on that at the end of december after i finished my attempt at remixing Cornelius, and I wanted to do 7/8 tracks around Wagner sounds... as usual I am super unhappy about my own music and work, so there is only one Digiki track on the cd in the end ! (OK, maybe two we'll see). The other tracks ? trash !
I have been working on a 'Digiki' collection of songs (call it an album if you dare) since maybe...1999 or 2000, I can't remember, but I have no idea if I will manage to finish something one day !!
This year I want to work on more remixes of course, because that's something (reworking and recontextualizing) that I love to do.
I am supposed to send a song (not a remix this time) to Spank Happy (great, VERY impressive japanese pop band) but I am still working on it. I want to keep a balance between experimentation and pure pop, and that's not something easy to do !! I want to try to surprise Kikuchi-san (one of the most respected jazz musician in Japan with his band Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden and leader of Spank Happy), and it has to sound good because the album is produced by Yasuharu KONISHI and 'Tomo' TANAKA of FPM !!!
