I've been listening to many new great interesting sounds this week, even if I'm trying to spend more time on my own music (progress=zero: I haven't been able to do a single new track for 2 months).
I heard a track from the new Cymbals album (great japanese pop band, with influences from The Beatles to Dusseldorf funk and Mouse on Mars glitch-ery). Sounds very good, i can't wait for the album !
M83. Ok, let's talk about M83. I'm afraid of being super disappointed with their new album because all the tracks I've heard so far (compilation appearences, illegal soulseek downloads etc) have been VERY good. Really. Good My bloody Valentine influences, good production, great sound. But will it works on a full-lenght album ? I don't know. I hope. And the design is cool. I will buy the cd for a change :)
what else ?
oh yesterday we were at that big Trax (french techno magazine) party in Paris, with 2 Many DJs, Ellen Allien, Demon etc. Nice party (but sooo difficult to get in, I feel bad some of my friends couldn't get in !!! ahhh fuck it !!) with an amazing bootleg mix by 2ManyDJs of Nirvana's 'Lithium' versus Daft Punk's 'Rolling and scratching': pure MADNESS. The dancefloor was like a hard rock pit. crazy but sooo fun.
The new Gonzales album is also crazy. This guy is officially a genius: his new album is... a collection of covers of songs from his three previous albums !!! so cool :)
And The Mathew Herbert Big Band...well, it sounds VERY promising.
Back to Castellane. We have many projects for this year (yeah I know we are already in April :) including the first EP of Eric K (of DOS Brothers' fame :) which sounds... surprising. Speaking of DOS brothers (that cheap electro band we did from 1997 to 2001) we *might* do something together again (yeah a reformation world tour !!). Eric is also preparing a new mix for the site from what I've heard, and I will do a mix too...
No news from Patrick Bang (of French Dynamites), he's *somewhere* doing *things* (editing a film ? listening to german avant garde electronics from 1981? who knows?) but I hope we'll all be able to listen to a new song from French Dynamites this year !!
I have to work on a Japan tour cd-r to sell at my upcoming July tour with Momus. Maybe I will put some recent remixes on it ? like the EeL mix, and the Crazy Curl remix (yes, I finished it. It DOES exist :)
OK, that's all for this week. I have to work on a new playlist for the site.
Oh, and if you can find it (maybe on DVD soon ?) I strongely recommand the 'La sociologie est un sport de combat' documentary by Pierre Carles on Pierre Bourdieu. Amazing film. And even funny some times :)

lyrics of the day:
woo I like it
tell me that you like it
let me see the way you move a woman around
woo I like it
tell me that you like it
prove to me I'm the one that makes you dance

But please remember (shouts to 3d realms :):
The release date of this record is "When it's done".
Anything else, and we mean anything else is someone's speculation.
There is no date.
We don't know any date.
If you have a friend who claims they have "inside info", or there's some music news site,
or some record store at the mall who claims they know - they do not.
They are making it up.
There is no date.
Period.
:)))
and YES the album (Paris sessions) is codenamed 'invisible' and NO there is currently no guest on the album.
YES it is delayed, June 2003 is NOT a completion date anymore.
YES some new material will be available on this site before the Japan tour.
that's it.
