Study: File-Sharing No Threat to Music Sales

Internet music piracy has no negative effect on legitimate music sales, according to a study released today by two university researchers that contradicts the music industry's assertion that the illegal downloading of music online is taking a big bite out of its bottom line. Here.

This is where we start

Someone asked me recently sooo, what are you trying to say with Digiki?, which is an interesting question, even if I'm not sure if giving an insight on what I want to say with my sounds is of any help. Well, anyway.
As Kitchen is released in Japan later this year (with bonus tracks!! ahah), maybe I'll then do a track by track commentary (Toog suggested earlier that I should add a track by track audio commentary for Kitchen as a bonus material - just like a DVD !!), but for the moment I'm focusing on the many new projects / collaborations that I want to start, and believe me, I'm very, very, excited. So the question should be where are you going now? and for this one, I have the beginning of an answer, as I've started thinking a lot about the contents and the styles of the next...hum.. thing.
I tend to do a list of songs/ideas/words I want to use a long time before I even start to hit 'rec', and this time on my notebook I have the words 'punk', 'hip hop', 'radio', 'poly', 'daft', 'vocals', 'politics', 'xerox', 'rip", "new media pimp'.
OK it's not very useful :) let just say that I want to mix even more styles and elements, to have guests (hey Robert, if you have some time, this new media pimp track IS for you!), and to take my time - I think this is the key element for a good result !
phones ringing, people 'interested', 'why shouldn't we try this...' mails, and of course the Kitchen REMIX project still going on !
Maybe our starting point is not clearly defined, but all those things happening mean that something has start. A very special thanks to Roddy and Remi for helping me clearing and structuring my thoughts - you are always super helpful guys !

I'm still very frustrated...

...about the Toog album.
It's good (and out on a good record label this year, you'll see :)
but I can't help but feel like I don't have the director's (or in this case producer's) cut because of its last track...
and this is not Toog's fault, no, it's mine: I don't have time to do what I have in mind for this track.
So, maybe, one day, you'll hear 'my' version of it. Maybe.
It's a matter of choice: it's Toog's album, not mine, and I'm very (very) happy that such a great label will release it.
Too bad I'm so slow & busy !!

OK, I'm angry now.

speaking of N*E*R*D...

Are all modern pop artists a toy factory ?
I want D!G!K! toys !

Just saw N*E*R*D live in London on video featuring Black Eyed Peas (! with will.i.am in pink!) Justin Timberlake (!!) and Dizzee Rascal (!!!!) for the encores. Absolute madness !

It's like Ben Folds Five got a windwall of hot equipment and Ben Folds ingested a helium factory and had most of his vocabulary erased by aliens. hehehe ;-) from this review of their new album Fly or die.
Is the album good ? will it make it to the Castellane playlist ? we'll see my friends !

...

Madrid. After such an horrible day I can't say anything clever except I feel sad and sorry. And I'm afraid about what might come next. Roma ? Tokyo ? why ? I want to be in Spain now, I want to be in the street against terror, against daft politics.

Loser

I'm listening to Beck Loser EP from...let me check...1994 ! and it's still very fresh and good. I love the rappin', the beats, Alcohol... good job, great production.

Speaking of production (hum), I've finished a new track last week, my first 100% new track since Kitchen!! lazy lazy me. It's called Wiki wifi and it's for a compilation, more info soon.
Now, if I could finish my new edition of Kitchen...

No translation

While Murray is undeniably excellent as a slumping, has-been action star, and Lance Accord's cinematography infuses the film with a fetching, quiet beauty, the rest of Lost in Translation is as transparently thin as the pink panties that Charlotte (Scarlet Johansson) strips down to whenever she decides to stare wistfully out of her Park Hyatt window.

The rest of the review by Sharon Mizota and Oliver Wang here.

I got to tell you...

... that a new playlist is coming soon on this website. Watch this space.
... that, yes, I'm hard at work trying to record new stuff despite the usual 'I'll quit all this shit soon' statements.
... that the I Love You But I'm Not In love With you is an amazing band.
... that I want to work with A LOT of different people for my next record.
... that I'm happy, I'm singing, (and a 1, 2, 3).

expect... nothing, but things will happen if they need to happen.

Kahimi Karie is back soon with a new single, Nana which sounds surprisingly pop. Her new album Montage (like the band?) will follow in May.
