it's a firewire curse !
I got to send it to Apple to get another one, and of course my 40 go of music will be gone.
I'M SO PISSED OFF

I think I'll stay away from any hardware for a long, long time.
Good bye

Tech and decks

A friend of mine asked me today a very technical question about the use of chopped up sound files and pitches in Reason and Protools, can anyone help him ? David, Trevor, anyone ?

Oh and talking about pitches, I've been asked to DJ in Paris on July 8th at Les Taulieres (same place I played last time). So if you happen to be in Paris... I will mainly use vinyls this time, so expect the usual random selection.

And August 13th to 31st it's Japan time again !! yeahhh*

Momo vs. Robo: the JPN tour part 2

I'm out of the equation this time, which is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on which way you see it. I don't know !
Check them out if: you can/want/need. whatever :)
I might do some shows to support the release of Kitchen in Japan, more info soon.

3000

The love below is back once again in the CD player, I mean the iPod, as it's one of the best production I've heard in a long time. Those bouncing beats ! Claps everywhere ! Outkast makes me happy. Favourites: Happy valentine, Spread, Prototype (waoo), A life in the day.. etc everything is good.
The funny thing is, we played this record like crazies when we were working on Lou Etendue with Toog, but you won't find ANY influence in the finished album ! Maybe on the next one ?

Another thing that made me happy (see, it's not THAT difficult) was watching the video for kimi no hitomi ni koishiteru (magical beam!!) by FUKADA Kyoko :)) haha ! it's ridiculously entertaining !

Animals don't care

For quite some time now, I wanted to write something a bit longer than the usual 'went there, did that' posts I usually do on this blog. I'm not going to turn this blog into a magazine (like Jean Snow's great site), but maybe I want to write more for a change, a bit like the posts Remi is doing on his blog.

I've been busy since May with many things, mostly work to do for my university and for the company, marketing stuff, a not so sexy subject for a blog, so I won't give any details, but let's just say that right now it's busy time. Which leads me to a question I've been asked several times: what do you do outside Digiki ? The fact is, Digiki and music is the outside thing I do, when I finish my work, late at night or during weekends, and this is the reason why I haven't done anything new since March. In fact, I have the feeling I haven't done anything new since I came back from Japan last summer, and this is one of the reason why I feel so out of the loop. I have the feeling people around be can't stop coming up with new ideas, sounds or projects, wherever I have nothing new to offer. I remember saying, as usual (it's almost a joke now) that I was planning to stop doing music, but seriously, when and where can I work on music ? With people around me doing very exciting music, from the remix Remi or Roddy did for Kitchen, to the fantastic Cat Jams and Music Related artists, to Momus doing a new album, to the great new Hypo release and the forthcoming Olivier Lamm album, very exciting things are happening around me (and you). What's next ? Robert Duckworth starting a band ? all this is very exciting, it makes me super happy. My only concern now is my inability to get back to work (matter of time and ideas), or maybe my inability to accept that taking your time could be the best way to do things. I must say I am worried sometimes that I'm going to disappear if I don't do 'something', should it be a website, a remix, a compilation etc. When I manage to deal with the stress of disappearing, things will (hopefully) get easier.

Anyway, there's more to life than this (digiki) and I'm still alive and kickin' (but a bit tired at least :) A party for Colette with James Lavelle and Pedro Winter, tons of DVDs to watch, a great birthday party, and a trip to see my 90 year old grand parents help to relax after a hard day of work. I'm now looking forward to return to Japan as I have an urgent need to be somewhere else and have fun. And believe it or not, I'm starting to accept that I have the right, sometimes, just to do nothing and rest. It took me time.

I'll hopefully have more time to work on Castellane and Digiki in July, but don't expect a new Digiki album any time soon. I'm still very disappointed that I can't record anything, call it writer's block, whatever, I can't do anything now. Which obviously means that I have tons of projects I want to do, and I'm looking forward to record remixes for Japan Shugo Tokumaru and US rock band Mahjongg this summer. Time will tell, but these are the two tracks I want to do, while other, longer term projects such as a new French Dynamites or Monsieur Darsh record keep evolving (and are great fun, it's just so much more fun to work with others). Kitchen and Animals don't care, its remix counterpart are set for release in Japan this year, so I have the right to rest !

Sonic

Sonic Coaster Pop.
Brings back good memories of speed, cute, pop.
So, this kind of sound is called pico pico or did I miss something ?
See, I have been completely out of the loop, I don't know what's hot in Japan nowadays.
I can't wait for the next Plus Tech Squeeze Box album, one of the craziest band on earth.

A break thru silence

DIGIKI; alone and tired

I'm taking a break - trying hard to think about what to do next - between a Shugo Tokumaru remix, some new Kumi Okamoto tracks to work, a possible Japan tour to schedule - where am I going ?
Toog asked me to provide an updated profile for the forthcoming Lou Etendue release on Karaoke Kalk, and I didn't know what to say about Digiki, I mean, who is Digiki?

I haven' t done any new sound in 3 months, and I feel great about it. Now that I am alone in Paris, who knows what's going to happen ? I'm SO out of the loop.
