Business 2.0 Erick Schonfeld's predictions for technology in the new year. I particulary liked this one:
"The word 'passion' is barred from all business meetings (please). OK, this is more a wish than a hard prediction, but in business settings the word "passion" is so overused that it should be relegated to the drawer where they now keep "synergy" and sports metaphors. If I hear one more executive talk about his passion for server virtualization or digital content or customer satisfaction, I am going to start passing out stuffed lemmings (or some other poor, pathetic creature). In the new year, do everyone a favor and save the passion for the bedroom"

It's Christmas time already, and as my left eye is back (well, almost) and my right one hurts (true) I will leave you for the time being with this post. Don't forget to check this blog or the main page on 24/12 for our Xmas gift of Animals don't care, the long awaited (?) remix album of Kitchen. See you in 2005 !
Various things to read...
- Interview with Linus Torwalds. Always interesting to read, even if you're not into IT.
And I believe the 'open source' notion that helped boost Linux can be translated into very new concepts in other markets and contains. Creative Commons (in its current uses) is just the beginning. I would like to see an open source team managing (and reinventing) an international artist for example.
- Patrick's great Tokyo Recohan site and the trouble with a (somewhat) US point of view on web usability. I agree with Patrick on his use of japanese currency and international date system. For more on the great topic of usability, you know where to look.
- RADIO OK FRED is now online !
a great selection by our team in Tokyo, Audrey, Yoshi and Jean. I edited/mixed this show last month, and I'm very happy to see it online.
- The Mittens Brigade and Roddy Schrock selections of records for 2004. Both are very interesting.
- Momus posts on Berlin are usually very interesting, as an inside view on what's happening in this amazing city. His lattest post reveals an important fact usually ignored by the 'hey this city is HOT!' articles, which is the BIG question (big answer: .pdf file) of 'how much does it cost to live here ?' I might think again about doing something in Berlin in the future. I love this city since the first time I went there (hey that's 1989 !).
- Reading Momus'interview with Malcom McLaren (read transcript here) reminded me how clever both artists are, and how fascinating McLaren is. I met him last year, and everything he said (for maybe a couple of hours) was clever. His view on the music industry, the 8-bit phenomenon, Dior, mixing an italian fashion show with chinese singers... Thank you Malcom !
