Tuesday, January 13th, 20092009: I am living a new life (I am now officially a salaryman) or rather adding a new layer on top of the existing ones and I am enjoying it. “You are full of contradictions”, a friend told me recently; I am a walking contradiction perhaps, because I try to keep re-inventing myself and learning new things in the process.
What better illustration than to give a lecture about DJing and curating, when I called the former so 90s on many occasions and I believe the later is the defining status of the 00s?
Everybody wanted to be a DJ, now everybody is a DJ and wants to be a curator, and I consider myself an anti-DJ or the possibility of a DJ and a selector rather than a curator anyway. But I’ll try my best to say something clever about both at Tokyo University of Art and Music, this Sunday from 12.
To add contradiction to contradiction, the same day will see the return of our lovely party Juliana at Soft Shibuya. I have no idea what I will play nor how I will do it, it’s up in the air, but it will certainly be crash-up music, and quite possibly enjoyable too.
Hope to see you on Sunday.
