My fans don’t gravitate towards ringtone records

Anyway, another day in the studio at home actually, recording music… not a ringtone record I’m afraid. I am very excited with the new material, very, very different from anything I’ve done. Far from being done though. 2009 here we come…

In the meantime, I made a tape for you. Yeah, a tape. Not a Polypunk, mind you, that one is coming tomorrow. Shane recently moved his podcast over to Muxtape (great selection as usual, do check it), so I thought I would do a little tape too. A good excuse to use Muxtape, as I absolutely love the interface, simple, straight to the point. I like the limitations too, 11 tracks, good. Check out My First Misstep here.

I’ve been thinking a lot on how to start a record label in 2008. What does record label mean today? I think the first asset I would need would be a code genius, someone with the ability to build a great interface a la Muxtape, platform independent, iPhone capable etc Yes, coders before musicians. As for the music I have a few ideas of people I would call…

Talking of business models, Damien Hirst is (apparently) rewriting the rules of the market. Hum. I wonder what his gallerists think of that. And why Sotheby’s and not Phillips de Pury? Watch our for Murakami’s next move.
